North from the Bandstand is a small street called Crossway,
which links High Street with Broadway. |
At the eastern end of Broadway is Easthampstead House,
which is the offices of Bracknell Forest Borough Council. |
Behind Easthampstead House is Bracknell's Library. More
than any other, this building shows the utilitarian use of concrete
during the 1960's development of the town centre. |
Looking west along Broadway, the town is dominated by the
office block of the 3M corporation. Notice also the Stag's Head
mural inserted high up in the wall on the left. This is dated
1959. |
The western end of Broadway is a wide pedestrian zone,
with trees and planted flower beds. |
West of here is Bracknell's covered Market, open on Fridays
and Saturdays. The Market offers the traditional fruit, vegetables
and a butchers as well as pet supplies, fabrics and artistic
wares. |
