The dark brick properties stand in cul-de-sacs accessed
from Harvest Ride, the main ring road around this part of modern
Warfield. |
The Tesco superstore on Jigs Lane (the former through road)
provides all of the amenities needed by local residents. |
The western side of modern Warfield is even more recently developed
than the eastern side. Huson Road is typical of the rather tree-less
neighbourhood. |
The distant view of hills and the sreet names are all that
remind of the countryside that was here until recently. |
Old Warfield (slightly to the north) comprises a number
of small parishes: Hayley Green, Newell Green and Warfield Village.
The Plough and Harrow along with the Yorkshire Rose form the
heart of Newell Green. |
Opposite the Plough and Harrow, the Jubilee Gate stands
at the entrance to the cricket field, where local matches are
still often played. |
